Enrollment Procedures

Parents of prospective students are encouraged to experience a working Montessori classroom for themselves by planning a visit during the school year. Visiting parents receive a tour of the school. After submitting an aplication, they observe the classroom during a morning work cycle while the children are immersed in learning activities. Parent classroom observation and a student interview are required of all families seeking admission for their child. We regret we cannot accommodate children during the observation visit.

The following provides a step-by-step procedure for enrollment into South Florida Montessori Academy:

  • Schedule a tour of our Academy to receive information from our office.
  • Familiarize yourself with basic Montessori philosophy.
  • Complete and submit the application form along with $100 application fee.
  • Schedule an observation in one of our classrooms
  • Bring your child for a 30-minute student interview with the teacher.
  • Bring your child for a 30-minute classroom visit during the Montessori work cycle.
  • Decision is made and you will receive a notification from the school official.
  • If your child is accepted, you will receive enrollment packet containing important documents.
  • Complete and return enrollment paperwork along with the necessary fees.
  • Familiarize yourself with the parent handbook.
  • Attend a mandatory 4-hour parent workshop on Montessori discipline.

The following priorities are used in determining admissions:

  1. Students currently enrolled
  2. Siblings of currently enrolled students
  3. Transfers from other AMI-recognized Montessori schools
  4. Children of law enforcement officers and members of the US armed forces
  5. Date of application submitted
